Crystal Forest – Sparkle Never Looks Bland
The popularity of the Pixies of the Forest game is really something that has to be seen to be believed. Set in a magical forest and featuring fairies and a variety of things that sparkle, this one from SG is what you could call a budget version of the Pixies.

An Overview of the Rules and Features
Bog-standard gameplay. That’s the only way to describe this five-reel, three-row slot machine really. There are 25 fixed paylines in this game and a very flexible bet per line option that allows for a huge range from minimum to maximum stakes. There’s also a quick bet button which transforms the line and bet per line buttons into simple, single-click options for those that would rather leave the tinkering to somebody else. The game uses cascading reels. After winning combinations are paid, those symbols disappear but the non-winning symbols remain on the reels. Up to 50 free spins are available for landing four or more consecutive cascades.
The big missing feature though, and it is a big one for the vast majority of online slots players, is the lack of an auto-play system. In Crystal Forest, you have to click to spin every single time. The process is painful to anyone who has experienced playing modern online slots that allow for customisable auto-play options, saving players from repetitive strain injury yet still pausing if there is anything exciting happening. The whole game feels outdated as a result. You know that feeling you used to get when you went back to Pro Evolution Soccer 5 after playing six months of Pro Evolution Soccer 6? That’s what this feels like. It’s not quite old enough to feel nostalgic, it’s just not a nice experience.

Conclusion – There’s Nothing Magical About This One
It’s hard to feel sympathetic for developer SG on this one. You can see the workings, but it’s so half-arsed it makes you wonder what kind of market the company thinks this is. You can’t get away with this tripe anymore. There is also an HD version of Crystal Forest, by the way, which looks only slightly better. It’s unclear what the HD stands for because it certainly isn’t high definition. If you disagree with anything said in this slot review, have your say in the comments section below.
